Dr. Brian James comes from a long line of mohelim. His grandfather, Dr. David James, was a co-founder and chair of the Brit Milah Program, the official Reform Jewish organization that certifies mohelim across the United States and Canada. He is the 5th mohel in his family to be certified through the program.

 

He completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2017. He graduated medical school at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida in 2021. Most recently, he completed his OBGYN Residency at SUNY Upstate in Syracuse, New York in 2025. He is currently a Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) fellow at Ochsner Health in New Orleans, Louisiana, which he will finish in 2028.

 

Dr. James is a certified mohel through the Brit Milah Program via the North American Mohalim (NOAM). Dr. James lives in New Orleans, Louisiana with his fiancée, Leah, and their French Bulldog, Zola.
